Welcome To Mission Beach Sailing Club
Mission Beach Sailing Club is a community club located in South Mission Beach. Our sailing season runs from May to November, featuring off-beach sailing in the sheltered waters near Dunk Island. Currently, our primary focus is social sailing, and we are dedicated to adapting as our members' needs evolve.
The Club membership year runs from 1st March to end of February. For details on sailing days and events, please refer to our Club calendar.
Club Sailing Days
We host numerous sailing days throughout the year. Join us for these events by checking our calendar page for specific dates.

Adventure Sails
Our club’s mission is to foster a sense of involvement, enthusiasm, and friendship that comes from sailing in this breathtaking environment. We invite you to join us for our Adventure Sails, which include trips to Dunk Island and the Family Island Group. These Sailing Days offer a unique opportunity to explore the beauty of our local waters while enjoying the camaraderie of fellow sailors.

Club Boats
Our Club maintains a fleet of boats available for various events and activities. Currently, we offer:
- 1 Laser: Available for annual hire.
- Pacers: Available for club sailing, annual hire and regattas.
To book a boat or learn more, please contact us directly. info@missionbeachsailingclub.com.au

Regatta
We proudly host the annual Mission Beach Regatta, a tradition that has been celebrated for over 40 years. This event draws sailors from across the state, eager to compete in one of the most anticipated sailing events of the year.
The regatta features the Around Dunk Island Race, designed for catamarans and larger monohulls, showcasing the skill and endurance of seasoned sailors. For smaller boats, we offer the Purtaboi Island Race, which provides a thrilling challenge in a more intimate setting.
To stay informed about this and other events, please refer to our Club calendar.

Learn to Sail
Currently, we do not offer learn-to-sail programs directly through our club. However, we are proud to collaborate with and recommend the excellent Learn-to-Sail courses available at Tinaroo Sailing Club and Townsville Sailing Club. These clubs provide comprehensive training for all skill levels, ensuring that you gain the confidence and knowledge needed to enjoy sailing to the fullest.

Support Our Club
As part of our fundraising efforts, we offer a variety of merchandise, including T-shirts, stickers, and stubby coolers. These items are available for purchase on Club days and at our annual regatta. Your support helps us continue to provide quality sailing experiences for our members and the community.
We look forward to sailing with you! For more information or to discuss any questions, please feel free to contact us. info@missionbeachsailing.com.au

Memberships / Day Pass
When applying for a new membership, please complete the new member application form and email it to info@missionbeachsailingclub.com.au. The application requires that you be proposed by a current Club member.
If you are new to the area or new to sailing, you may not know any of our members. We recommend you participate in our 3-SailPass system before submitting your application. This system gives you the opportunity to see if our Club is the right fit for you. It also allows you to get to know our members, allowing you to be proposed by a current Club member.
The SailPass system provides a way for individuals who are not members of an affiliated sailing club to experience sailing at our club through temporary membership. Each SailPass registration is valid for one day only.
For more details, please visit: www.missionbeachsailingclub.com.au/temporary-membership

In the event of strong wind warning, sailing will be cancelled. Members will be notified via the MB Sailing Messenger group chat. A cancelled club day will be automatically rescheduled for the following Saturday.
Safety first – we advise all sailors taking to the water without support to please text the Messenger group prior to launching with an ETA for arrival back to the Club. Text in to confirm your arrival back to the Club.
Officers of the Day duties: please refer to the Official Notice Board at the Club for a detailed list of duties. The Officer of the Day must recruit one other crew member.
Changes to Officer of the Day schedules can be planned ahead via the member’s MB Sailing Messenger group chat.
The Club receives funding for two on-water support events. These are important fundraising opportunities for MBSC. Assistance from Club members to support this fundraising is essential and very much appreciated.
